black tie event!!!

OK so I am actually thrilled that
I won tickets
I can actually go on the day
Its probably gonna be a fab night
OH will be persuaded to go with me

But its a black tie dress event, I have just given pretty much all my clothes to a charity shop ( having downsized my clutter with moving) but anyway I never had black tie dresses.

Gotta find summat for £50 including shoes before next Thursday.
Any ideas people please help cos I ain't got a clue about clothes.

Pretty pretty please :)

Congratulations. Try Ebay to see if you can find anything local to collect. Also Freecycle and Streetlife, and of course, charity shops - you might end up buying your own stuff back :D

    Hope you enjoy the event

  • I've hired from Girlmeetsdress.com before - they have some gorgeous dresses for around £50 and you can almost always find a discount code somewhere online.

    I love this Green Dress

Alternatively, save your money and ask your friends if they have anything you can borrow.

Have a fabulous time, it sounds great fun!

Although I am not all that tall, all my female mates are a foot shorter than me except one who is a foot and a half taller.
So sadly cant save any dosh that way.
Have seen some pretty skater dresses on asda and tk maxx and tesco. Gotta get some strappy sandals too.

Will a skater dress do though or should I go maxi?
    Ta peoples.

For a black tie event, I would personally go long, however anything knee-length or longer would be perfectly acceptable. I would avoid anything too clingy and possibly choose something rather plain yet versatile that I could wear again. Then I would raid my friend's wardrobes for some funky accessories and colourful shoes.

I am excited for you! Since becoming a farmers wife, black tie events have become few and far between.

Def TKmaxx, they do some fab dresses, long is better and more fitting for black tie.

You would prbably be required to wear a long gown (or a cocktail dress). A skater dress would reaaly make you feel out of place (unless there are reality 'stars') lol

Does your OH have a tuxedo is the more imporant question?
    Thank you all who post.

Fab win - congrats! Definitely wouldn't go 'skater dress'. More of a gown type event. You can get away with a cocktail dress.

Definitely ebay! But make sure they don't leave it too long to send. Search by ending order. I've had a fabulous long velvet dress off ebay before for a black tie do).

Hope you have a brilliant time! Well done on the weight loss too! (Oops I think I misread the 'downsize' comment lol. So blonde...)

What size are you now? I'll have a quick browse on ebay for you if you like! If you have any lumps and bumps to hide, velvet is your friend :)
