The question on the application form is
"Apart from your home, do you or your partner own any other property or land in this country or abroad?" - with a Yes or No answer

    Thanks Caz. :)

Never seen a form so wasn't too sure if the question was directly asked.

"Apart from your own home" .

She may have misinterpreted the question; she could have classed her house as her own home, not the rented flat she moved to.

The sooner it's sorted out, the better.

If owning your own home excludes you from claiming HB it does seem rather unnecessary to include that phrase in the questionnaire then.

It does not exclude in all cases
if the property is up for sale they can disregard the capital for 6 months
if the property is in negative or has little equity you may still qualify
if an ex-partner is living there will a child then it can be disregarded

it does say beside the Yes box that they will contact you about this where they will collate more details to find out whether it excludes a claim
