The title of this thread is "50 over-50s MoneySaving tips".
Less controversially, how about some Early Bird specials?
IKEA's breakfast plus free tea/coffee was fabulous, but it's advertise the 6 piece at the cheap price, but put the price up for the 9 piece. I would have thought it's an ideal set up for the OAPs, unlimited refill on tea and coffee. You get there by free bus pass, spend all day in air conditioned comfort, save on heating.0 -

I was under the impression that there was no such thing as a free lunch but apparently there is for breakfast tea/coffee.
Great idea adds another financial direction for this thread to persue.
Oh, incidentally, when you get older you will be able to tell when someone is being "controversial" and when the are teasing. The only thing that is constant is change.0 -

The Sunday Times Chess column used to have a weekly prize of lunch for two in the Grand Divan, at Simpsons in the Strand, which was featured in Howards End (starring Anthony Hopkins, Emma Thompson). After years of sending in postcards with a second class stamp, I finally got it, including one glass of champagne each. Sadly, the stamps probably would have paid for the meal, but my date obviously got it for free.
Now that you can submit an entry by e-mail, so it literally is free, the prize is only £20. Just about enough for Toby's Carvery for two, I suppose, but it's not the same.
So, there is still a free lunch to be had, just watered down.0
