Hi,
Is there anyway of creating separate groups for colleagues and friends, family on facebook?
There are occasions where you don't want your facebook status update appearing on colleagues' timeline. At the moment I have to go to "Custom" option to exclude certain people (which is a long long list) from seeing the status update but is there a way of putting all those people that you don't want seeing your status in a group and selecting that group (for exclusion) prior to updating the status. ?
Thanks

Do you have people on your facebook selected into groups. If not then read up on how to do this, because it is designed to do just this.
On the odd occasion where i do this I just make things visible to that group. I never select individual people.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -
Remember that anything published on the internet may end up becoming public.
Whether that's because you've pressed the wrong option, whether someone shared something they didn't realise they should have done or the website you posted to changing their policies.0 -
Hi , Thanks and that's exactly my question- does facebook allow you to allocate people into groups that you can restrict.
How to create groups and add people into exclusion groups? I can find the instructions any where0 -
I can't access it from here as FB is blocked, but just google for something like "set up friend groups on facebook"
There are lots of help pages on Facebook by the looks of it.
Sorry I can't be more help.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -

Yep, you may send stuff to a restricted group of people - but you have no control on what they then do with it., or who can really view what they can see.0 -
OK cool thanks a bunch everyone0

It's simple, keep Facebook to friends and trusted people only.
You cannot trust ANYONE at work, especially if you work in an office environment. I have one person from work on my FB friends list and he's only there because he (like me) isn't drawn into office politics and we both get into equal amounts of trouble for our faces not fitting.
I've seen people get fired for things they've written on FB, because their so called "friend" saw it as an opportunity to score brownie points with the bosses.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
