Signing up for and moving Broadband between rental properties?

Hi

Could anybody advise me from your own experiences before i call broadband suppliers.

I am selling up and moving house but might go into rental accommodation for 6 months, then see how it goes from there.

Firstly: I assume that current house owners would not provide the house with broadband running live, and that it would have to be enabled / disabled by tennant?

So, as somebody who maybe renting (me) is the only option to keep my current provider (BT) from my current house , and would the provider switch in and switch out my broadband as i moved between properties , if for example i changed locations every 6 months or so?

Do Broadband providers "provide" special deals for 6 month time period and make arrangements for people that rent, or will they always want to lock you in, to annual rolling contracts?

Thanks for any help..

I rent and whenever I've moved from one property to another I just let my current phone/broadband provider know that I'm moving (about 2 weeks in advance) and they move the service to the new property. It's the same account it's just the location that changes.

They'll move house with you. I got caught out on cable before as they don't supply everywhere - I moved to a place they didn't supply so they stung me for the full contract!

BT are everywhere, of course, so I went with them for the time we were moving around a lot. No problems.

Can line rental also be transferred when it's been bought in advance. e.g. line rental saver.

So they don't make you take out new 12 month contracts? I was of the impression most providers do.

Yes you can move even if you've paid 12 months upfront. I managed to do this with Plusnet.

When you move you set up new gas and electric accounts but phone lines and broadband are the same accounts just supplying a new address.
