Interview for a Housing Association property

I think the fact these interviews are often in your home are for very good reasons as they know what circumstances are (or have been told they are) and want to check. I wouldn't worry it's just a part of the processI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I work for a housing association. Although I dont do the pre tenancy interview, it is carried out by someone in my team (normally my best friend).
Thing that you need to think of, this is probably the first time the housing association has met you. The idea of the pre tenancy is to
1) meet with you to make sure you are who you say you are
2) find out if you actually want the property (might be a flat and you want a house etc)
3) make sure that you dont need any alterations, special adaptions (eg disabled things)
4) for the housing association to get an idea about your personality, if you might need more support
5) to make sure you understand the basics of what your tenancy will be
6) make sure all the details (DOB, NI number etc) are correct and there is no changes since you sent your application details.
It is really for the housing association to get a feel for you, you to have a feel for them. It is nothing to worry about, they are just trying to get more back ground. The fact that they are meeting you at your mums house shouldnt make 1 bit of difference, as long as you havent put on your application form that you live with your mum in a bed sit and it turns out to be a 5 bedroom detached mansion lol. They might ask you details of any previous anti social behavior problems but that is more so to make sure they dont house you in an unsuitable place.
I know each housing association is different but we have a pre tenancy interview, then a viewing of the property, then once you are happy with that then have a "sign up" meeting where we go through all our terms and conditions, sign all the paperwork, make sure any support programmes are set up, sort out HB claims if applicable.
I wouldnt say 100% you have the property they have offered you, but as you have a pre tenancy then i would said 99% chance that property will go to you unless they suddenly decide it isnt suitable because either you have lied (which I dont expect you have) or the property isnt suitable for your needs which I dont expect either as they shouldnt have shortlisted you for an unsuitable property.
Dont worry about the meeting, they are normally very relaxed and informal, Im sure it will be perfectly fine0
