Anyone heard of or dealt with ProSearch please ?

Had a letter out of the blue re deceased mil having shares apparently. Never heard of ProSearch before but they are offering to claim back some dividends for 12% + vat in costs. Has anyone used them before please ? Tia

    If you know the company that the shares were in then just contact the registrars yourself and claim the dividends for 0% in cost.

    They are a known tracing company.

    Deceased MiL's papers? They must have been told of her death so there may be correspondence relating to that or some indirect clue

    We moved house so think this has been one which we overlooked. I will double check any papers I have thanks dzug1.

    You could play dumb and ask Prosearch. Just phone them and slip the question into a conversation along the lines of, "your service sounds great. How do I sign up? I never knew MIL had shares, what were they in etc..."

    You might get lucky!
  • Try checking her bank account - if the company has paid a dividend you might see 'XYZ PLC DIVIDEND' on it. Alternatively try writing to the three big registrars - Capita, Computershare and Equiniti saying that you're working on you Mum-in-law's estate and asking if they have any record.

    How does the tracing company know who to approach? Someone who is a close relative is not necessarily entitled to claim the funds for themselves. Is the company finding out executors somehow?
