I suspect anybody who actually knows is not allowed to reveal this information.
I don't think anything will change just because their headquarters leaves the UK. They can change the criteria for new accounts at any time for commercial reasons.
Er, HQ isn't leaving the UK. Well, discussions are ongoing, but that's got nothing to do with the creation of HSBC UK, which is a regulatory requirement to have UK-based banking entities separate from riskier investment side of a company. So all HSBC retail and commercial customers in the UK will move to HSBC UK, as naturally it needed a different name to the wider group.
And quite probably the very reason they chose the name HSBC UK is for continuity purposes, so they can keep the same branding globally.0
