Wednesday 22nd April - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important:money:

  • Good morning! I'm having a NSD today and will be baking with my boys to use up some odd bits of food. My shortcrust is made and just chilling in the fridge whilst DS2 has his nap (he's only 7 months so he'll be helping by bashing a wooden spoon around a bowl later while DS1 does the real mixing bless him) and then we'll be making banana & sultana flapjacks - leftover bananas, apple pie - leftover apples and a quiche - leftover eggs. No food waste for me anymore, I'm sick of literally throwing my wages in the bin.

    Hello all,
Grandma day today, so just posting quickly while baby is asleep. Short list today:
    Meals from stores
    Cheque paid into bank
Made a cake (didn't turn out as nice as usual for some reason :()
Given bedside cabinets another coat of paint while OH took baby for a walk in her push chair. Later, when her mummy picks her up, I will sand and wax them, OH can put the handles back on, and they can go back upstairs. I will sort out all the carp that I tipped out of them and only replace what is needed.

Lovely weather again today. Hope everyone is enjoying it :)

Garden beginning to look like a garden now :-D hard work with a little one in toe, remove ball from area to cut the grass, return in its place bat and ball, remove that and she's trying to drag over the slide :-|

Was just wondering if any one can recommend any first time grows? Espically ones little ones can get involved in (age 5) going to start a veggie plot, not massive but a fair size. Also plenty of room for pots, window boxes etc. obviously will just be building up slowly over the, weeks

    Xx

Peas are good I'd say. We're growing them for the first time this year. They sprout and grow quickly and have nice flowers. Also don't take up much room because they grow vertically.

We've also had good success with tomatoes.

    What veg does LO like?

Haha I remeber those days, lol. This is a great site for ideas but we've enjoyed growing potatoes, beans, peas, tomatoes and cress - all super easy (and I'm not even a gardener :rotfl: so if I can do it anyone must be able to)
