No Limit on Days - Annual Travel Insurance

Hello All,
I am after some advice on travel insurance please. I am heading off travelling in June this year with no set 'end date'. I will be starting in the USA and will stay for between 3 and 6 months (depending on VISA application outcome).
After that I will be going to Canada and South America but have no set dates in mind or routes and imagine I will be away for at least 10 months.
I have a pre-existing medical condition which I will be declaring so I started to look at some of the sites mentioned in that guide, however even on annual policies the maximum 'days per trip' were between 30 and 93 days.
Obviously I need a lot longer than this. I am not sure if 'backpackers' insurance is what I need or something else.
Does anyone have any experience of 'no limit on number of days per trip' travel insurance companies, even better with pre-existing medical conditions?
Thanks in advance.

You don't want an annual travel insurance, which is a completely different thing as you have found. Backpacker insurance is indeed what you should be looking at. You will probably have difficulty finding anything to cover you for an open-ended trip unless you are prepared for a high premium (and possibly a lot higher depending on what your existing conditions are), it'll be a lot easier if you decide in advance on the length of the trip.0
