    Yes, I'm intending to take it as a lump sum once my SSP finishes, as I don't think I'll be going back to work - certainly not there, as I don't think the stress will be good for me! I appreciate I'll have to get my employer to finish me rather than resign as that can have impact on benefits as I understand (not sure if there's a loophole which applies with health conditions?) - in essence it will be my notice period.

    Whether that's in one lump, or over 2-3 months to save on NIC, I don't know as that will depend on the answer to my question. Naturally I don't want to deprive myself of what I'm entitled to, but don't want to break the law either - but when the DWP can't help, how are you supposed to know?
