My car was written off last November in a no-fault accident. I have not been contacted by any of the above until this week. I have had five calls, plus a number of unrecognised missed calls, regarding my accident.
I asked one of the callers where the information had come from and apparently it comes from insurance comparison sites. I had recently changed my car insurance and obviously declared the accident. I always tick or untick the "pass on information" box, so I find this a bit devious. I used Go Compare.
Anyone else had this?
I should add, they knew my name and car make, so not a fishing expedition.

Yes, you only have to look on LinkedIn to see all the 'hotkeys' data for sale as 1 month 2/3/4 etc and also "car insurance renewals no longer than 6 months only 2p each".
It's time our whim posh government put a stop to this nuisance!0 -
Yep indeedy, the insurers, brokers & price comparison sites are happy to let this happen all for a few quid for some data.
Like the above poster mentions, there are pages awash with idiots trying to sell claims management companies this kind of data and I get calls weekly at the law firm I work for wanting to sell me "qualified leads".
it is indeed about time this got sorted out good & proper once & for all.0 -
I never put my real telephone number on comparison sites, if the above doesn't happen then you still tend to get calls from insurers touting for your business.0

At least they are contacting you about an accident you've actually had.....I get the occasional call about car accidents I've had and I don't even drive! :eek:Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £17,496.340
