In many countries properties are indeed priced as £/sq ft (in their own currency of course).
UK is quite unique to market houses like x-bedroom house etc.
This is just to hide the fact how large/small the house it.
Always add up the dimensions given in the property ads.
Once you calculate £/sq ft figures, it is easy to see which houses are over priced.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -
Yes pricing per square foot isn't the norm in England so you can't really use it as an argument in price negotiations.
However it can be relevant in making your own personal decision about whether a particular house/flat is good value.RICHARD WEBSTER

It is becoming much more common for buyers to think in terms of cost per sq ft, so it is certainly something we consider when pricing a property. However, as others have highlighted it is not something to be taken in isolation as there are many other factors that affect value.
Whilst pricing per sq ft is not yet the norm in England, it is very common on the continent and I believe it is a trend likely to continue over here, not just something foreign investors worry about.0
