Address Change on Bank Accounts

Hi There,

Does anyone know how long it takes for an address change in a bank to fully register? I have changed my address on my bank account a month ago, and when you open a new account or apply for a credit card they do a credit check on you, and if your addresses don't match up i.e they still have your old address on your credit file then you will get turned away for the product you are applying for.

I just wanted to know how long I should leave it when I have changed my address before trying to register for a new credit card, bank account etc..

Address changes should be instant from when they are processed.

For the problem you are describing, that's why you are asked for your old address when applying. Moving house often may be a negative factor when applying for credit. However, I had no problems opening multiple credit cards just after moving house in 2012, and I had not even changed address at all of my banks yet. I just put 0 years and 1 month at new address.
