I know its warm now but i want to fit a Electric fireplace in my main liveing room mainly for a focal point as it would look bare without one but question is
can anyone suggest a good make or what to look out for on them ?

They're all £5 fan heaters with an expensive light show attached to them, so it all depends on how fancy you want the light show to be. Some of the more expensive Dimplex ones are amazing - but the price reflects that.0 -
I have a Dimplex Opti-myst electric fire which uses water vapour to create a very realistic flame effect but they aren't cheap and need regular cleaning and topping up to the water tank.0

One thing I've just been looking at, which may or may not be relevant, is whether you'll be mounting a TV above it.
If you are, you'll need to take that into account and buy a relatively low fireplace: most are 80/100cm, which will make for an uncomfortable viewing angle for your TV. Aim for a 50/60cm unit if you can.
