Recouping money from an overseas Swift Payment?

Hi all,

I'm after some advice, I think if been a victim of a boiler room scam and wanted to know could anyone advise me if there is anyway I can recall/ be reimbursed for a SWIFT payment made to an account in Dubai?

The SWIFT message system allows your bank to request a cancellation of the original transfer, to the receiving bank. Whether your bank offers that to you as a service and whether the receiving bank would pay ball in relation to a payment allegedly 'sent in error'... the only way to know is to ask your bank.

Presumably boiler room scam companies work on the assumption that once they've got the money they will run off with it, so you will likely find your efforts come to naught. But it depends on the time that has elapsed and whether the boiler room scam company selected to open their account at a bank which was very good at honouring requests to send funds back to other international banks on request.

it appears i have more than likely been victim of a boiler room scam, i will try my bank and see how i fair with them.
