Hadn't shopped there for ages, bought an item last week, no problem with it except it went on offer this week. Went back to the shop, £100 returned to the card with a minimum of fuss.
Sometimes it's good to highlight the times when there's next to no problem with a shop, they didn't roll out the red carpet or anything, just gave good advice on the phone and instore, I gave them money, then they gave me back some money, and in between I bought other items for other people anyway as the service was good.
Now if only it was always like that

Personally, I think that Maplins is just like PC World when it comes to customer service and it all boils down to the staff working there on the day in question.
Despite PC World having a very bad reputation for aftersales service, I've never had a problem returning items (both faulty and unwanted), but I know that many others had had far different experiences.
My local Maplin store isn't very customer friendly and some of the staff there seem to prefer talking or texting on their phones rather than dealing with customers but there is another branch about 15 miles away where the employees couldn't be more helpful.0 -
I guess it comes down to store management to a degree, although they do seem to be trying to level the playing field with occasional mystery shop jobs coming up for them. My local Maplin is great, and will even stand for me getting a 1k Ohm resistor to make my shop up to a discount voucher amount0

I've been a a fair few Maplins and have always found the staff knowledgable, helpful and non-patronising.
The complete opposite of PC World mentioned earlier in the thread whose staff often have seemed to have a sell at all costs attitude and lacked knowledge of basic technical aspects. Again, my opinions are formed from personal observation and circumstance so don't take them as fact.0 -
I only buy from maplins when its half price, Even then you maybe able to get it cheaper.
Never had any complaints about them though.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
