RBS old ppi claim offer help

Hi,
A couple of years ago I put in a claim for ppi against an old loan I took out ten years prior. I received a couple letters from the lender (RBS) point blank refusing the claim. I then tried with the Ombudsmen who requested more information which I couldn't provide and so I decided to give-up.
Now a year or more has passed and totally out of the blue, RBS has written to me stating they have 'looked again at my case' and issued a final offer cheque of £80 (unless I can prove hardship at the time). As this is probably only 10% of the original ppi claim, what should I do?
Thanks in advance.

If you have the proof of more PPI paid, I would get back in touch with them, as I read it, you possibly have not and if the bank do not have more info then you will have to accept the redress.0

Hardship has nothing to do with PPI. Did you make another complaint about bank charges and financial hardship?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Lots of banks are going back over old complaints and changing the outcome. This was mandated by the regulator. So, nothing unusual there.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I'm not totally sure what you mean by this. You don't "claim" a specified amount. That isn't how it works. If your complaint is upheld, they calculate the redress in line with a defined formula set by the FCA.0
