I've just ended my sole trader business on the Hmrc website , I've told tax credits I've stopped work and no longer claim wtc , is there anyone else I need to inform ? I'm now looking for some work , the whole thing about the new criteria for self employment was doing my head in and frankly isn't worth it ! I'll try and get by on my child tax credits until I find something , can't be that hard and a lot less hassle than all this

I don't know who else you'd need to notify  Housing Benefit/CT ? It might increase

You should receive 4 further weeks of working tax credit which will buy you some time to find something else.

so sick of it all , just want a straight forward job , even jst a few hours a week ,seasonal work was cash in hand and I'm terrified of getting into trouble if that's illegal, can't be doing with the worry if my business fitted the criteria of new wtc rules and possible penalties etc , 4 weeks payment will be handy to tide me over0

Payment by cash isn't illegal. If they are doing it without a contract of employment, without payslips and not putting it through the books then that is a problem.
But the actual payment by cash isn't a problem.

As IQ says...being paid in cash is entirely legal, but cash in hand generally means no payslips/contract.
and that won't help you get WTC 0 -
It's cash in hand , no contract , no wage slips , not touching it with a barge pole ! Want to sleep again at night lol0
