Booking holiday using an Amex Card

I have found that booking.com often says properties will take Amex but they don't. Best to check with the actual website of the property. Also you don't need to pay until you get there.
Trading standards aren't going to do anything useful if the owner claims he has informed booking.com that he doesn't take Amex, but they won't amend their website.
I've also found the opposite. I recently stayed somewhere where bookings.com said they didn't but upon checking in they had an Amex logo on the desk. Thankfully my reserved card wasn't charged until check in so I just gave them my Amex instead.0
