New Build-Meet the builder

Hello

We are in the process of purchasing a new build property and have our 'meet the builder' meeting coming up. Has anybody had any experience of these or has any advice on questions we might want to ask whilst we have the opportunity. Any help would be welcome!

They will go through all of the plans and show you where everything is (drains, pipes, sockets) and you have the opportunity to ask any questions that you like.

If they show you plans of the ground or landscaping works/trees/shrubs details of the perimeter of your house then I recommend taking photographs of them - our builder suddenly tried to change a perimeter brick wall into a fence, missed a hedge at the front of the house and only planted half the number of shrubs we should have had down the side of the house. We were also missing a couple of trees. They refused to do anything until I sent them my photographs taken on my phone of the original plans (we had had to sign a form to say we had been shown the plans). They seemed shocked that I had taken pictures but suddenly all those items were resolved!

Also if shown the drainage plans - take note of where they run in your garden, in case you want landscaping work done at a later date and need to avoid damaging them.

Thanks all this has been noted! It's all a bot overwhelming. Just trying my best to make sure I don't overlook something that could potentially be problematic in the future.
