Car insurance & Driver Number/NI No

I wonder if the NI number request is so they can cross reference it to some Gov/benefit database, ie to see if you are claminging Job Seekers when on your car insurance you say you are working?
I know someone who is unemployed due to being a 24/7 carer for their partner, but on car ins quotes they always say they are office admin as it works out a LOT cheaper than ticking 'unemployed'.0 -
The NI number is needed to access the online information. It would be preferable if individuals once logged in could see or input a password or code to be used by insurers instead of giving your NI number.
Presumably the government know what they are doing :rotfl:0 -
All this looks to be a way of thwarting the M.Mouses amongst us doing dummy quotes and playing with them to see how to get the cheapest deal.0
