Surprising, since it'll make the property far less attractive as a rental. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Why do all this at all? Just switch the gas to a tariff with no standing charge and continue the electricity with whichever direct debit tariff is appropriate. Five or two minutes work. Bit late for that now, though.0

British Gas did not give us any options it was either pay the standing charge or have your meter taken out.
Why would it make it less desirable not having gas? Lots of properties do not have gas and are all electric and they have no trouble renting.
It was all electric when we moved in as the previous tenents had the gas capped. Heating is electric the only thing that was gas was an old gas fire that did not work.0
