Hello
Was thinking a couple nights trip to Copenhagen soon.
Noticed Sweden is a short ferry trip away...so thinking 3 nights with a full day in Sweden
Would this be worth it or rushed?
What main places would you recommend in Sweden. ..Malmo. ..?
Thanks

the best/easiest way is to cross the oresund bridge.
you have several options crossing the bridge, train/bus and car.
Malmo is a nice place for a visit, it was my preferred town of arrival and departure when i visited my family in Sweden however Ryanair no longer run a service from Stansted so now I have to use goteborg, sadly.
Like most cities in Sweden its not the most exciting place in the world, for example I love Stockholm but its kinda dull compared to London, Barcelona, Berlin etc, but if you have a spare day I would recommend a visit.Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
We have just visited Copenhagen with the intention of going over to Sweden, Malmo during our stay. But never managed it.
The train seems the easiest way from my research, Copenhagen central straight into Malmo.
There are ticket machines in Copenhagen central station that are self service and you can change the language to English. There are also counter staff, you take ticket and wait for your number to be called. The counter staff and platform staff we encountered all spoke English too.
There are actually several self service machine that appear to just sell tickets to Sweden and have signs above them saying.tickets to Sweden. I looked at the normal machine tho which sell tickets to everywhere.
I did make a note of the fare but can't find it, worked out just under £20 return??? Which part of reason we didn't go, as there was three of us. Trains were very regular.
And the bridge does look good ( you can spot it easily as you come into Copenhagen airport.0 -
Thanks both.
Think a lot of people go to Malmo, helsingborg and a 3rd place all in one day - is this feasible?
Depending on extra stay in Copenhagen and associate train costs, I could do an extra night.
I have special dietary requirements and will be travelling alone (first time doing so,.so bit nervous). ..are there many street food stalls around and places I can eat without it being too crowded? (Sweden and Copenhagen)
Hmm maybe a 2 night er will be less stressful. .0 -

Can't help with the trip to Sweden as we didn't do it, partly due to cost and partly due to needing yet another foreign currenc.
There was a few street stalls in Copenhagen.
My son loved the pannis we got him from 7/11 stores. Loads of them dotted around, although not all did the panni. All the seven/eleven stores did some type of takeaway food tho I seem to recall. Pizza, hot dogs and tomato sauce wrapped in a pastry. (3 for 28 krone) plus other bits. Think the panni was about 28 kroner and they put in a machine that warms it up too. Did lots of various fillings, at what I considered a reasonable price. Son loved the ham and cheese ones.
Lots of the seven/eleven stores had a few table and chairs where you could st and eat the food. The only ones I seem to recall that didn't was the one near to Christianshavn and by Nyhavn.
There is also a netto supermarket under a Starbucks not far from the town hall. Didn't see any other supermarkets0 -

In Denmark and Sweden you would be hard pushed to find anyone who doesn't speak good English.0 -

Malmo, helsingborg and a 3rd place all in one day - is this feasible? No I don't think so, Malmo from Copenhagen is about 20 mins by train and although a small city you really need a full day there to explore properly. I've not been to Helsingborg, but again I think you would need a full day, incorporating travel time.
Train from Copenhagen to Malmo is very easy to do, about £7ish and most of the staff will be very helpful and speak perfect English. Don't forget you can't use Danish Krone in Sweden, so you will need to take Swedish currency or pay by card.
Plenty of places to eat in both Copenhagen and Malmo, Copenhagen can be crowded in the main tourist places but don't let that worry you.0 -

Same in Holland, puts me and my language skills to shame.0 -
I've heard Malmo is quote small so doubt I'll need 10 hours especially travelling solo and being young and fit? 3 places might be pushing it but definitely see Malmo and helsingborg doable I'd guess.SavingPennies wrote: »Malmo, helsingborg and a 3rd place all in one day - is this feasible? I'd try and do both but not three, ten hours should be okay, but maybe plan ahead what you want to see to save time when you get there. I'm one of these people who wants to see everything so I never have enough time lol. Ive heard Helsingborg is well worth a visit. In Malmo Id recommend you check out Lilla Torg and the Turning Torso (go cant go in but its impressive to see). If the weather is nice, kungsparken is nice, and the beach is great - with fab views of the Oresund bridge.0
