How long for Lloyds Bank to close credit card ?

Hi,

4 months ago I phoned Lloyds Bank to close my credit card. The card was unused for several months with no balance for that time. 5 days after I received a letter from them saying the card was closed. To this day it still appears on my internet banking, and it still gives me the option to order a new card.

I've phoned them and they say it's closed, but out of curiosity to see if it was closed, I applied for new Lloyds credit card, surprise "you already have a credit card with us".

Should I phone them to say it isn't closed ? As every credit card I've ever closed, closes pretty sharp, and defiantly doesn't linger on online banking for months.

Thanks

It should be closed. Generally it will stay online for 6 months and you cannot apply for a new card for 6 months.

The details remain for a period so you can access statement information etc.

But if you don't believe Lloyds, then check it's showing "settled" on one of your credit reports. If you'd rather not pay £2 for a statutory report, and don't want to waste a free-trial with Experian and/or Equifax, then sign up to Noddle for access to your free CallCredit report.

I've been waiting over a year now for mine to disappear I think. Never got a letter though so guess they just never did it... should really call them back.

I cancelled a Lloyds CC on the phone last Friday and can confirm the '6 month' answers.

I asked for a letter and also when the card would be removed from internet banking and he said 6 months. I asked why but he had no more information other than that. But direct from their staff call centre so should be correct advice.
