Please help Re V5C
Please help I am having nightmares with a Arnold Clark dealership.
I bought a car and returned it three days later as under supply and service good act 1982 law, I had every right to. The car was 17500 and I expected to get what was advertised, only it was far from it. They first told me they didn't know how to return a car, then lost my part exchange. They then found my car sent off the V5 adding another driver, both being me . They then lost one of my keys also £180. I have lost count of the phone calls then the manger tells me to stop harassing them.
They ring 3 weeks later demanding their V5 for the Audi so I said I had sent it to DVLA because they told me they had to do that with mine. On this point how did they send this with out my signature ? This made them, angry and it was actually at work at the time but I ended up in hospital and a week later still have the V5. The bulling from them is getting out of control.
Once again I rang customer services and they said they would return my call but didn't. What do I write on the yellow bit of the V5 please as it asking for a VAT number too. Shall I just ring DVLA tomorrow even though its expensive.
I am in touch with Trading standards now but this V5 is giving me nightmares.

I haven't understood all of your post, but is it Arnold Clark's VAT number you need? - This will be on their letter head/docs and on their website - usually at the bottom of the page.0

Thank you, I have since read on the declaration that Arnold Clark has to sign it too. This makes me wonder how they sent my V5 off from the car I was going to part Ex.
Guess Im going to have to go into the store which I didn't really want to do.
I can not believe from no fault of my own they sold me a car that was all lies then I Have to go through week after week of stress. This is the fifth week of hell with them.0 -
A simple squiggle is all it takes, Nobody checks the signature matches the prvoues one used.
Do you have your old car back? You may find its now untaxed. Transferring a vehicle gets the previous keeper a refund on the tax.
Just leave the VAT number blank, Im guessing nobody will check to see if the dealer is VAT registered.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
So, if you bother coming back, what was actually wrong with the Audi?0

Harvey bobbles why would I not return if I have asked for help?
When I first bought the Audi I was told I was given a year warranty and two year servicing. I read the small print and was charge £500+ which I was later told they never said I didnt pay for it. Which is true I guess but where I grew up when you were given something it was a gift.
Secondly the Audi was avertised with a biult in sat nav with the use of a SD card. When I went to take the Audi home I asked for the SD card and apparently it was in the safe of which they didnt have the key. The car its self had a hissing noice that my car mad son noticed. Their top macanic was called who had a faboulus clean suit and tie on and said it was the turbo. Since I had just part ex a turbo diesel alarm bells started to ring. The day after I rang for the SD card and they had lost it and was buying another. I rang audi myself and was told with the reg the car never had a integrated sat nav in which later calls to Arnold Clarks revealed too. I was offered a window sat nav to add insult to injury. I returned the car and the nightmare began. I feel I have been treated unfairly to almost a bulling point. I simply want rid of the V5 from the Audi now and they said just send it to us but it says clearly on the yellow bit I have to send it to the DVLA. I was told by a friend that this site may be able to help.0 -
I assume they gave you your part ex back, why not go in there, with the audi V5C and then get them to fill it in (right infront of other customers as you don't want to be put in a side room) hand it back to you to pop in the post.0

says clearly on the yellow bit I have to send it to the DVLA.
Only the yellow V5C/3, it's written on the back - you and the dealer complete the relevant parts of the V5C/3 and you send that yellow part only to the DVLA, you give the rest of the V5C to the dealer. Which will be why they are asking for it.0 -
Rover I did say I would do this but that I was sending the yellow bit and they said on the phone just leave it all with them and they will sort it. Just like they were sorting my spare key for my part Ex I never got and everything else.
I Simply dont know enough about the V5 to trust them to sort it. I supposed I could remove that bit before I Reach the store.0 -

Sadly some dealers do say that when cars are traded in, and then don't, and the old keeper gets the all the problems from the DVLA for not notifying them of the transfer.
Go to the dealer, get them to complete their part of the V5C/3 and give them the rest of the V5C, you fill in your part of the V5C/3 and then you send it to the DVLA. If you don't get their letter of acknowledgement within 4 weeks, contact them.0 -
sounds easy to me I cant see why theres an issue, OP you want to be refunded the cost of a spare key to be made, they want their V5C back.
arrange to do a swap.0
