Restaurants or fast food near alton towers

I'm visiting Alton Towers and got a good deal staying in their hotel for two nights.

I hear that the hotel restaurants can be pricey for dinner. Are there any other budget options within a short drive?

The a50 has a services and McDonalds on two roundabouts near the turn for Alton Towers.

There's a cracking chip shop in Cheadle- several take away places there in fact.

Another option is to have dinner just before you leave the park. The food inside the park isn't too expensive. What time of year are you going? Later in the summer the park's open till 8pm I believe.

There are a few pubs in Alton village, but the one we went to (Bulls Head Inn http://www.thebullsheadalton.co.uk/restaurant.htm) wasn't much cheaper than the restaurant in the hotel, Still £10-£12 for a main.

There are several restaurants in the Alton Towers Hotels, The Secret Garden in the Alton Towers Hotel is a la carte and £12-£15 for a main http://www.altontowers.com/media/2454/sgr-winter-2014.pdf.
Or in Splash Landings Hotel, Flambo's is a buffet offering three courses including roast carvery, salads and curries then desserts and ice cream and is £20 adults for all you can eat.

Head to Uttoxeter (20 minutes drive) and there is a McDonalds on route and a cheap 2for1 chain pub (http://www.dapplegreypub.co.uk/) but you get what you pay for there, the food tasted cheap!
