Unlikely that you will get anything. My sister is a single mother of one so entitled to 2 bedroom rate (175 a week LHA rate) she earns 11,000 a year (gets child tax and child benefit too so brings it up to around your amount) and she only gets £30 a week of her rent paid for her.0

what does that mean? that they will give me up to that amount for rent?

They will take in to account your age. I could be wrong but I think you have to be over 30 to be entitled to a 1 bedroom place, if your under 30 then you are entitled to shared. However, if your only entitled to a room you can still rent a one bed and get housing benefit (if your eligible for it) but you will be required to make up the shortfall between housing benefit and the actual rent which will probably be a lot higher.
You will need to find your own property to rent. This can be hard for housing benefit tenants as not many landlords will accept them. Try going through a specialist agency.

Yes they will take in to account all income and any benefits. But as stated its likely you will not get any with that income. Even if you had a child you probably would get very little paid with a 16k income0 -
It's 35 years of age to be entitled to the 1 bedroom rate (used to be 25 a few years ago).
LHA rates published by a local council are maximum rates paid for those entitled to a particular bedroom size of property and therefore employment income will reduce it. The majority of rental properties have rents above LHA rates and a tenant has to find the difference between the rent and their LHA rate themselves out of their existing benefit or employment income.
Claimants have to find their own tenancies and many landlords won't accept HB claimants for numerous reasons.
There isn't an obligation to tell the landlord about HB - it is paid directly to tenants in most cases anyhow. However, Many landlords will issue the tenant with a tenancy application form and perform tenant checks (like a credit check) and ask for evidence of salary, bank statements or similar and this is where they detect that a tenant is on HB or can't afford the rent from their own income.
And if you recently had tens of thousands of pounds in capital that allowed you to buy a property outright and now are seemingly too poor to afford your rent, the local council may launch a 'deprivation of capital' case to find out what happened to your money.
Benefit payment organisations can apply 'notional capital' to benefit claimants who they believe have intentionally reduced their capital in order to qualify for benefits. This means they treat the claimant as if they still have that capital and reduce their entitlement to means tested benefits. It's known as 'deprivation of capital' - google the term to understand how/why this is applied. It's also known as 'nosiness' but googling that term won't really help you to understand your position.0 -

Where have you stashed it then? ...because 2 hours before you posted this post, you could afford to buy a flat for cash........I can buy a flat in cash, but it could be better to get a mortgage, but in general you keep questioning my ability to do it, which is irrelevant to what I am asking for (if it is a good investment, etc)...0 -
