Best way to connect a mouse 20m away

Does anyone have any ideas on the best way to connect a Keyboard and Mouse from my p.c which is outside to the living room?

I`ve used a 20m HDMI cable for the video connection which works fine.

But i`ve tried 2x10m usb 2.0 cables and it`s really jerky and freezes all the time.

Is there a more reliable way to do this over about 15m or 45ft as the crow flies ?

have you tried a mains powered usb hub at the k/board - mouse end , and just one wire running the 15m ,

I`ll check some bluetooth keyboards out and see what sort of range you can get.

I`ve just read that the max usb cable run should be no more than 5m .

I think it`s possible to add a usb booster every 5m or less which might be one way of doing things.

The USB 'boosters' (technically I think it's a re-sync, with signal cleanup) do work. That said, I'm wondering if there's a better approach to solve your problem - what's the end result you're trying to achieve and rough setup?

If you have a laptop/netbook/tablet and wifi, you could install some kind of VNC or Remote Desktop software to remotely control the main PC.

Or maybe some kind of IPKVM (aka KVM over IP) solution...? I'm not entirely sure, but would something like this work:

If you have a smartphone/tablet and wifi you can get a keyboard & mouse app.

A bit of lateral thinking: use a laptop in the living room and set the PC up as a server with wireless connection.
