Just an update ....
Rang again and spoke to the complaints dept nicely and it turns out that the policy we have does now include all airports in the Republic and has a clause specifically written to cover anyone living in NI and departing from the South.
Happy days - saves me loads of time ringing round!

I guess you should have known this prior, it’s a mistake not paying attention, but I guess for more you should definitely seek for an insurance policy that covers all and that can only be found with a reputed and reliable company.0

We came across this problem in 2012 when travelling from Dublin.
Our insurance was further complicated by pre-exisitng medical conditions.
We went with Globelink . Columbus also cover Dublin departures.0
