£40 Parking fine from SMART Parking ASDA Bootle

Hello Everyone

I have received a parking ticket from Smart Parking Ltd for £40 which I initially ignored. I have now received another letter asking for £70 if not paid within 14 days of the letter with a then further charge of £10 if I do not pay that.

I must have been in ASDA twice that day but only have evidence of a transaction from one visit (an entry on my bank statement). I certainly did not overstay in the car park but cannot prove this. It may be that I paid in cash on one of the visits and threw the receipt away. I got the letter about 2 weeks after the visit on 4th March 2015.

I think the camera has photographed me going in at first and coming out hours later without picking me up leaving the first time and entering the second time.

I know there have been problems with this car park before and I have provided a link below to a pretty identical story.

As a new member I cannot post links but there is a similar story in Liverpool Echo headlined 'Grandad's shock over Bootle Asda parking fines'

I have not been in touch with SMART Parking or ASDA

Thank you in advance for any reply received as to what I can do about this.

Regards,

mccshals

Read the excellent stick guides which will help you appeal the ticket.

You didn't say when the parking 'violation' occurred which could be helpful. These really are easy to appeal with the following few simple steps all explained more fully in the guides I linked to:
    1. Wait for NTK - it sounds like you already have this
    2. Appeal to Smart parking requesting a POPLA code
    3. They will probably reject the appeal and give you a code
    4. Appeal to POPLA with the code and as long as you include all relevant arguments from the guides you win will.

Forget your own personal 'story' and stick with the arguments that win, whilst never admitting the drivers details.

I had the same thing happen to me. When I explained and did an online appeal explaining where my car was they cancelled straight away

Smart are easy peasy to beat. :) Read the newbies thread. You should be in touch with BOTH Smart Parking (online appeal) and Asda (in person and/or phone their Head Office and have a rant).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
