Neutral Feedback left but comment was good??

I have almost 2000 rating all positive and then today buyer left a very good comment followed by a++++++++ but a neutral rating. I've left neutral feedback back but why do that without contacting me or explaining what the issue was, I'm not a mind reader - was tempted to leave a neg!!

I've had a couple of these, it is usually by newbies who think neutral is the average feedback to leave. It should be renamed to something like 'could do better' I think you still get a warning if you are not leaving positive. I would try for a mutual removal.0

Yep you get a warning - I did when I left theres, oh well it could have been worse. Thing is if I had been told what the problem was I would have dealt with it, the actual feedback comment was glowing about the item, very confused. They weren't a newbie.0

So what was the other persons problem that caused you to leave them a neutral. That's the problem with feedback now, it's all a case of you leave me positive and I'll do the same for you and everyone is scared to be the first to leave feedback in case the other person doesn't give like for like0

The problem was I was left neutral feedback and not given a reason why, or the chance to put it right. I have the same right as the buyer to leave feedback that reflects my view of the transaction and I actually stated why I left neutral feedback, I could have left a neg, perhaps I should have this has been a negative experience for me.
I had no contact from the buyer and I think its unreasonable to leave neutral or negative feedback without at least making one attempt to contact the other person.0 -
I had a strange neutral a while back, "my son loves it", she had done the same to a few others so I decided she just didn't understand the system, the others had negged her but I left her a positive saying "if you are pleased with something please leave a positive.
You just have to accept that there are some odd people in ebay land.
neutral is meaningless in real terms."There is a light that never goes out"0 -

I know but it spoils my nice neat feedback page, lol. Oh well, I'm closing ebay sales for good at the end of Aug - OH says he doesn't want to take it on when I start my new job so it will be goodbye to all the strangeness thats ebay.0 -

Personally I hate to see mutual withdrawals on someones feedback page. Makes me wonder which one of them left feedback that was either untrue/nasty/blackmailing etc etc. I think twice about dealing with that user.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Yes I see your point, how about asking them to leave a follow up comment saying that feedback should have been positive.0

But I don't know whether they meant to leave a positve or not.0

You just have to accept that there are some odd people in ebay land. A neutral is meaningless in real terms.
As far as your selling performance ratio is monitored by eBay, a neutral is as damaging as a neg - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=507925
So yes, if I receive an unjust neutral without prior communication (3 times this year so far - delayed in post, mis-read a very clear description and a "thanks, but not really what I wanted after all", I return with a negative. Not only is it self-preservation, it is my accurate and factual description of the trading experience.
If I am dissatisfied with the transaction, I leave a neg - it's the fundamental point of feedback isn't it?<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0
