Car kettle

We travel a lot by car but refreshments at motorway service stations are expensive. Has anyone tried a car kettle for making tea/coffee and heating water for babies' bottles?
Thanks

They're OK but small capacity. They also draw a lot of current from the cig lighter socket so make sure its rated high enough.

There is an excellent guide, whose name escapes me, which lists cafes and truckstops within 5 minutes of the motorway.

I agree. You're talking 10-20 minutes to get the water barely hot. I use to have one and consigned it to the tip. Easier to carry a thermos flask of hot water.

I saw a 2006 guide with a title along these lines by AA in home bargains for about 99p I think today.

A good thermos flask should keep your drinks piping hot for a couple of hours.

Or get a camping stove - just don't use it in the car

I have The Great Motorway Secret by Stephen Addy, available from Amazon. It lists superstores within a few minutes of each motorway exit, very useful.
