Altering postage ebay listings once ended

Is it possible to change the postage amount on something I am selling after a listing ends but before the buyer pays?

I am not talking about combining postage but on a single item?

I am selling something at the moment and just realised that if I remove it from the it's plastic wrapper it will be £1.85 to post rather than £3.90. I was going to amend the listing to give the winning bidder the choice!

Would it be possible for me to do this?

You can send an invoice and reduce the postage amount. Like a combined invoice but only for one item. I have done exactly what you have done before. You have to be quick though before they pay.

does it really matter, the buyer pays the postage.

If you take it out of the plastic, buyer could say it has been used.

It's the difference between me potentially getting £5 or £7 for the item. The photos clearly show the item is sealed and new.

yes the photo shows that, but when buyer gets the article unpackaged will think this is second hand.

I know it's only £2, but you get the postage back.

That's exactly what I have done, I have simply amended my listing with the following text:

If the winning bidder is happy for me take the collar and instructions out it's sealed plastic packaging to post, the postage cost will halve from £4.30 to £2.15. If you want to do this, message me after the auction ends but BEFORE you pay and I will send you an amended invoice with the reduced amount on it. Once you have paid I cannot change anything!
