Dropped out from a work experience placement, will I be sanctioned?

I dropped out from a 3 month work experience placement, I left on the first week and was wandering whether I'll get sanctioned from the job centre?

Probably but will depend on the reason why you dropped out.

Really, I thought that once you leave after the first week there will be no sanction?
I am also getting £0 from the company I work for so I decided to leave

It all depends on the reason really, and also if you can find a more suitable placement for you, that way it still counts as work related activity? :)

I believe the new rules are that the first week is considered as voluntary. After that, it is considered mandatory.

If you leave before the end of week 1, you will not get a sanction.
If you leave after week 1, then you will get a sanction.

My JC adviser is a complete b*** she'll not let me get away with this she will probably threaten me with sanction. Do you think if I just don't turn up for the placement it will result in a sanction?

How sneaky of them, they never told me that it's voluntary I was forced to do it

Before anyone comment re; the sanctions it is vital to know exactly what 'programme' you were on.

Have you got a letter telling you?

This may be useful as it refers to sanctions on the different 'programmes'

As far as I'm aware, that's how 'work experience' works - you don't get paid, but you can continue to claim JSA/ESA and the Jobcentre will also pay travelling expenses. The purpose is to gain you experience which you can add to your CV and a reference.

But in our area Work Experience placements are usually only for four weeks and a maximum of eight ...

This is right. If you have travel expenses, then I do believe it's the job centre you claim them from. (that's what I was told; but it didn't apply to me when I was doing work experience)
