O/S Daily Saturday 18th April 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, sunny but frosty. Load of washing ready to go on the line, will do that shortly.

DH and myself up enjoying first peaceful cuppas of the day. Boys still in their pits.

Dinner last night was roast chicken pieces, potato bake and broccoli – all eaten and enjoyed. Not certain what we’ll be having for dinner tonight but have a good stock in the store cupboard, fridges and freezers – so will be able to find something. I bought duck breasts yesterday for the first time, so we’ll be having those at some point over the next couple of days, they were part of the 3 for £10 deals at MrM’s – thought it would be nice to try something different – not sure what we’ll be having with them though.

Met my best friend yesterday and we went out for lunch, when I arrived at hers, we decided she would drive and we’d go straight to the pub for food – good job that we did, it was busy but some tables available, we’d just sat down and were choosing from the menu when it became really busy with the lunch time rush – I wanted chicken ceasar salad but they had run out of the dressing, so settled for a salmon salad – very nice, friend had the Friday deal of fish and chips, that looked nice too, but fish was in batter – something I love but my body just doesn’t anymore, since I lost my weight, but don’t feel deprived, what I had I really enjoyed, with added bonus I knew I’d eaten well.

Today DH wants to get the top box put on the car – our friend is going to help him, but DH thinks he and DS1 can do it – so are going to have a go this morning, then we’ll still go to friend and get him to check it’s secured ok – don’t want it to come detached whilst we’re on the road! Have a couple of other jobs to do – and I’m thinking I may do some cooking/baking whilst they are doing whatever this morning. Have happy menfolk at this house at the moment as the new skybox arrived yesterday and DS1 had it set up by the time DH got home from work – happy days!

I need to write a menu plan for this next week.

Have a great Saturday everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's another beautiful sunny day here again and I feel very happy. We went out to the quiz night last night at church and it was such a great laugh. Our team won as well which was fantastic and facebook is full of messages from my friends wanting to steal me for their teams next time :D:D:D. What can I say, it comes in handy having a head full of trivia at times :rotfl:. I was really panicking about going as I knew it would be really busy but it was so much fun and hubby really enjoyed himself too. It made such a great change from sitting in front of the TV falling asleep which is our normal Friday night.

The girls are up and having breakfast which is another miracle as I don't normally see them before lunch time. There is washing on and plans are being made to go shopping. I think the better weather has made them evaluate their wardrobes and decide to get some summery clothes. I will be doing the same but online obviously. I need some t shirts as I think it's safe to put away my big wooly jumpers finally.

Well, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to. Take care xx

    Morning All

Sunny this morning but cold again, hope the weather stays good as I have the settee covers to wash and dry, I thnk I will just get one done today as they are quite big and will take up all the room on the line.

Had Salmon and veggies last night which was nice, not had salmon for a while. DD is out tonight with her friends so I will probably have stir fried veggies later.

Hope the poorlies are feeling better, have a good weekend. Take care. XX
  • Morning one and all. It was beautiful when I first got up but clouds have now appeared from nowhere - and we were forecast sun all day!! When am I going to stop believing these weathermen as they are only right when they forecast rain!! Still, I live in hope that the clouds might disperse!

Quite a few jobs lined up for today, including all the ironing generated by the sick DGD! She was fine all day and we were able to go shopping and she even requested lunch in Sainsbob's cafe! Why not, I thought, it saves making anything when we get home! Mr TA enjoyed the chicken and veg soup with a sandwich, DGD had a toastie and I had a ham and cheese panini which was delish with oodles of melted cheese in it!

We still have a bowl of mash in the fridge so I have just got some fish pie mix out to defrost and will do a Fish Pie for supper - it's Mr TA's favourite meal and I'm sure he would happily eat it every day.

I was tempted by a few perennials in Aldi so want to get those in the garden this afternoon. I am waiting for them selling their assorted lavenders, as they do every year, as I want to pot some up for the back patio - I just love the smell of fresh lavender.

Phone call from DS last night - he and the GF seem to be working through the aftermath of the eruption two weeks ago and she has got another job too. I hope this one lasts and DS can cut down on all the hours he does at work to keep them afloat.

Have a nice weekend everybody and hope you get some sunshine xx

    Good morning everyone.

Well done on being on the winning side Dumpling. You and JackieO could be another great team.

Another sunny day ahead I think. Yesterday was lovely as the cold wind had gone. I did a wee trip to a tiny garden centre I've often passed and bought some new bird feeders and some pansies for outdide the front door to replace the ones the chickens ate last autumn. I also did kindling foraging and got a huge amount of dry sticks.

Then I sat outside with a book and a cup of tea for a rest and read. There was a cuckoo cuckooing its head off at one point and I ended up just sitting. Reminds me of the saying 'sometimes I sits and thinks, sometimes I just sits'. :j

Food was coffee and homemade coffee cake in the garden centre and the chicken keivs with vegs for evening meal.

Today I have to tidy up the log store properly. I've been using up the spruce logs from the tree we had chopped down early last year. I bought a moisture meter which has been invaluable in making sure they are ready to burn.

Hope everyone has a good Saturday.

    Morning All,

I do hope that everyone is well.

It looks slightly overcast this morning but i am sure it will clear.

DH is working this morning and we have made a tentative agreement to go and get some new flooring for our livingroom! I am super excited as we moved here two and a half years ago and the carpets were all quite dirty and smelly i have shampooed them a few times but i think that it makes them smell worse.

Just planning on doing my household chores for the morning.

Hope everyone has a great day

    regards
    :j

    Happy Birthday Hilstep.
Hubby has been dropped at work, I collected DD & dropped her at work, then went to the butchers & bakers for some burgers & buns for lunch as my other DD is coming over with 4 of her children, the babies are 1 next month, doesn't time fly! DD has been selling bundles of outgrown baby clothes on ebay & always wraps them beautifully using tissue paper & ribbon, so I've found loads for her that I'd saved.
The sunny weather is really invigorating me & I've been moving furniture around & sorting things out.
Time I got a move on.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
