Have this morning been switched over to the new APG. Just checking online Porcupine wine orders from a couple of weeks ago. Some vouchers have reduced by a few pence, some risen by a few pence.
Fortunately I still have access to the old on my phone......for the time being ! But how do I get it on the laptop ? Hmmm ?0 -
Morning all
Next door has a builder in armed with a driller in his front room, right next to my study - so I won't be spending much time loitering at the desk today
We were AWOL this week for a few days in the wilds of Yorkshire - just a different wet and cold to what we are used to with the addition of horizontal hail and sleet
Wednesday late afternoon as we were going to the pub for dinner when we had a call from eldest son. He had popped back home to get a civi rucksac as he is away for the weekend. What he found was 2 sparrows - one sat on my desk and one in the living room
So he said there was no coal dust on them so they had not come down the chimney, I t was a bit of a mystery but he managed to get them out of the house.
Thursday afternoon we wondered our way back home via the cattery to collect our brood, got put of the car and the first thing we saw was both front windows of the house wide open
Eldest son must have shooed the birds out of the window, got his rucksac and then left - locking the back door but not noticing he had left both front windows open even though he had to walk by them
So these windows were open all evening and night and all through Thursday until we came home, fortunately no passer by had decided to climb in and help themselves - Ok we should have out the window locks on but the front windows are never opened all winter so I don't think we even realised they were unlocked.
And needless to say the sparrows had come down the chimney - there had been a soot fall, thankfully eldest son hadn't noticed otherwise he might have tried to vacuum it and blown the vaccum.
Eldest son, well as much as we love him he is not very bright, very much nice but dim and this is just another in a long line of incidents stretching back years including afternoon drinking parties, strangers sleeping in our bed, having mates over and shooting BB guns in the house, setting fire to the oven when he left steak to cook itself etc - when he was at college and still living at home we could never think of having a weekend away as we could never trust him to look after the house or at least not attempt to destroy it - only when he was posted abroad could we start having holidays and breaks - youngest son at home was much more responsible, never any qualms with him.
Trouble is now that eldest son is back in the UK and his listing is only about 90 mins away he can literally show up at any time so we are back to being worried about going away“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
