I note Quorn Mince (500g) on t.com has a silly icon alongside the product that states "Still cheaper". Oh:shocked:, rather uselessly, clicking on it brings up a blown-up image of the product but does not contain any further explanation.

    "Still cheaper." Than what?:p

Clearly not cheaper than M at the moment as T £2.45 and M £1.49.

:idea:I think they mean "cheaper" than their own (T's) previous price which, at nearly twice the cost of M's now half price offer, was even more ridiculous! People are meant to believe that £2.45 - nearly a pound overcharged compared to M - is a good price as it's "Still cheaper":p.

Remember, lots of things go on half price at some time or another, so an "offer" that represents (whether stated or not) a "few pence", perhaps 45p, off a price of nearly £3 is, IMO, an extremely poor deal. This is getting like the eday prices in M:rotfl::rotfl: - I think, if they can afford to maintain it at that price and to have it therefore as "still" cheaper, then it must be too high a price as it's been regularly maintained at that price. They can make profit from it at that price - which can only be done by getting us to pay them more money. Need to get it instead at a much lower, loss leader price;). One that, clearly, they will not want to maintain or have it "still" at that price for too long!:D

So, my logic is that, if it's "still" something, then it must be a rip-off as they could not maintain it to be "still" that price if it was really (from our perspective) a good price! So, if I see the word "still" in future, that's a clue that we should run a mile as it's therefore bound to be too expensive. Unless we are doing a comparison vs somewhere else much cheaper and if that comparison actually delivers the difference (or more) to us.

Of course, I've picked up on a single word, the word "still", like I do, and twisted it to use to argue against their interests! And, if the phrase "Still cheaper" implies a comparison vs somewhere else, which to be fair it doesn't actually state (but then the argument would be that it was, precisely, an implication and not an expression), then clearly it is misleading as it's not now cheaper than M by any long shot.

The Quorn Mince makes it to the Tvs M list, even though, at £1.49 in M, it's more expensive on weight than other frozen food, such as BE Chicken Dippers 42 pack which, at £3 in M (cheaper by weight than Quorn Mince at £1.49), fail to make it to the list these days as we've seen better in the past!

  • Heads up about some really cheap prices of boxes of sweets in M on msm. No idea if they are actually that price in M or whether we can all do an A v M or T v M shop, but the differences in price in each store suggest that it is definitely worth a punt.

I'm sure I have seen someone else post about this earlier in the week (M4rtin maybe) so apologies if I am treading on someone's toes and re-posting old info.
