    Go to YouTube and search for the following.

    Format a USB flash drive by disk utility in ubuntu

    It should be the top hit in the search.

    I go straight to youtube too.

    I'm not sure what "OpenDNS" is, but I'm guessing something is routing via that.

    I too go straight to Youtube using the library PC. Could it be that I was using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and the LTS has already ended?

    The LTS ends in about 2 years. And even then, programs will not stop working.

    No this is a DNS problem.

    Check the DNS servers you're using and if you are using proxies.

    It could also be something like your router dns cache that can cause this. Sometimes flushing the cache will fix it. Does your browser/computer have opendns proxy enabled?

    Either add an exception to the browser to allow opendns or disable the opendns proxy in the advanced settings.
