in Credit cards
Hi
Venting. I am in process of sorting out my debt and affairs so I checked my credit files - excellent history BUT found out that two cards I cancelled two years ago are active with 0 balances:
Halifax - 4K limit and they duplicated thei card with a charity one (their mistake) and that looks as if I have 4K limit.
Marbles - 7k Limit.
I phoned Halifax got a 'you don't have a card' speech then I insisted they sent me a letter with no card confirmation and adjusted my files.
Marbles - soo cheeky. Phoned and they said policy to keep it open until you reconfrim cancellation! This time they say they'll do it, but then said, we wait three months to ensure you REALLY don't want to the card so a temp. ..what does it take. I ranted but they said it is cancelled in the sense the account is blocked (but I don't have card I might add) but offically cancelled with no chance of re-opening after three months!
Angry as I am going to apply for a 0 cc and don't want this affecting my credit score.
Any of you wise people had these issues?

I always write to cancel and ask for confirmation that the account has been closed - having said that however, I've just checked and can still log into an account I'd closed in April. hmmm... does that mean it's still 'open'. Thanks, worth checking on.0

Yes, I need to do this - but I wonder how long it takes for the account to close...hmmn. Hope you get yours sorted.0
