Leaving UK to EU with Amex debt

Hello everyone, maybe this has been asked before but here I go anyways.
I plan on leaving the UK in a month or two as I have lost my job and have now applied for JSA,but have a debt of approx. £700 on my credit card.
What would happen if I just left that debt in the UK?
I am moving back home to my EU country, where I own a property (not renting it out).
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
p.s. I am not a British citizen and do not plan to reside here again.

Are you British?
I would not advise just walking away from the debt. It will just keep going up with missed payment charges and so on.
If you are not British and plan on doing this, I hope they track you down.0 -

I think he meant £7000, not £700.0

Sell your property or rent it out and pay your debts.0 -

I doubt anyone would go chasing you across Europe for such as small amount.
There are lots of people who have remained in the UK, dodged a larger bullet for six years, and effectively had their debt written off.0 -
The only danger I can really see is that fees get added, the debt gets sold and then a debt purchase firm gets a judgement and tries to find you and enforce it in your home country. It may not be worth Amex pursuing it but other debt purchase firms might.0

You will also never get an Amex in your home country or anywhere else in the world, although depending on which country it is, you might not want one anyway.
On the other hand I suppose if you change your name and employer and wait several years, the odds of them linking it to your previous name are quite low.0
