Asda Repeatedly Failing To Refund Returned Items

I am posting this not for help but out of curiosity to see if anyone else has experienced Asda not refunding money for returned items on a regular basis.

I switched from my usual preferred online supermarket (Sainsburys) as they stopped promotions on many of the regular expensive items I purchase such as dog food and beer. I switched to Asda and have used them for the last 3 or 4 months.


In that time I conservatively estimate that on 7-8 occasions I have failed to automatically receive a refund for items returned with the driver, and the cost of these 'oversights' would have been circa £80 if I hadn't been vigilant and checked my online accounts.


That however got me thinking. Does anyone else have this problem?Am I just unlucky? Do I have some glitch on my account? Are their vulnerable people who don't check their statements for whatever reason being ripped off? Do Asda even know this is happening?


I have reported my experience today to CAB who are passing on to TS as I feel that it is unacceptable. In my mind it is bordering on theft.


Looks like I'll be going back to Sainsburys.

    It has never happened to me in all the time I have been using Asda to be honest, I have used Sainsburys on the odd occasion but I find them to be so expensive and I don't agree with there policy on not price matching subs which is something that Asda and Tesco do automatically.

    I always get an email from Asda within a couple of hours of delivery confirming what my refund will be but to be fair, I very rarely send anything back with the driver as I do so well out of the price matching subs.

    Hi, not had that happen both had items not ordered in place of items ordered, but no subs on invoice so didnt know until putting items away.

    Phoned up their local (not as in south africa ) call centre and was told to take the items back to swap over. WHAT i say its home delivery and its the packer fault not mine.

    No manager there to talk to. After 15 minutes i was wasting my time he was right and i was wrong

    Phoned the next day to get it sorted

    They don't usually have "no quibble" refunds and exchanges like a lot if other supermarkets. I bought a £5 computer keyboard once and the whole second line was faulty and wouldn't type. Probably faulty circuit.

    I couldn't believe the questioning I got. The guy took the item out of the box and examined it.

    I was a bit surprised because even aldi doesn't throw up that level of skepticism.
