Does estate agent want to see Agreement in Principle before putting forward offers?

I have heard folk have had to show their agreement in principle to the estate agent of the seller to confirm they have finance ready etc.
Does this happen when an offer is made? After offer made? After offer accepted?
Just that our agreement from our broker states our maximum mortgage amount - that maximum mortgage amount is about twice the price we think we need to pay to secure the house! So if they see we are able to get this high mortgage then surely we cant play the 'oh that is the max price we can pay'
I am in Scotland if it makes any difference.

You refer the sellers agent to your broker/Sol. They will confirm funds available. Don't submit anything to the sellers agent, they don't work for you.0

I had an offer accepted a few weeks ago and haven't had to show any proof of an AIP. I just told them I had one.0

It depends on the agent I guess. I only showed my DIP after an offer was accepted (together with proof of deposit, to get it withdrawn from the market).
They all try to push you to see their broker, but I always told them I'd absolutely refuse to use the services of anyone they recommend as they are not my agent, and that this was not open for discussion.
They are supposed to forward all offers to vendors, so if the EA is being obstructive, you can always approach the vendor directly."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0 -
