Trouble Getting my deposit back.. [Renting]

Hi all,

first time posting here so please be gentle..

I moved out of a property on the 2nd of April, the estate agents did the checkout on the 7th and have not decided to deduct anything with them telling me that they had authorised a BACS payment to my account on Monday..

The trouble is that it still hasn't shown up in my account yet, a BACs payment should definitely only take 3 working days (it doesn't seem to be a Faster Payments Bank).

I've got them to confirm the details the money was supposedly sent to, but every time i've rang in the person answering didn't seem to know that the deposit had even been authorised.. to compound this the "manager" of the agents appears to be in a meeting every time I ring in which is starting to raise my suspicions a bit...

I am going away soon on holiday so really need the money quite badly and it isn't a small amount (Over £600) but I am running out of ideas... what should I do??

Which deposit protection company protected the deposit? You can always raise a dispute there if you don't get the money back. It's probably worth writing a letter to both the landlord and the agent before doing this though.
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

    The deposit is with TDS!

If I don't receive anything today from them I will write to them stating I will initiate a dispute. It's just a shame it all takes so long!
