gmail app on android driving me mad!

I have never liked the gmail on android app but now I hate it. I have 2 gmail accounts one is personal and the other is for a small craft business I set up last year. I keep them quite separate. This is no problem when signing in from my desktop

However it is another matter on my android tablet. I can get the sign in to a different gmail account to display and select my business account and enter password but then it displays a validation screen for my personal account and opens that instead - even though I have signed into my business account with the relevant password.

I managed on my PC to set up a new password for my business account but it still opens my personal account on the android. It seems to auto default back to the original"primary " ? account on the tablet . Have I missed something or is it not possible to open alternate gmail accounts on a tablet only the original?

I have four Gmail accounts, and all four are accessible on the Gmail android app. In the bottom left corner I have three little people icons which represent the other three accounts not being used.

I just touch each one in turn to open.

I think you just have to link all the accounts to the main one.

It's on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.

That's a phone isn't it? I think it works a bit differently on an android tablet which is where I have the problem.

A quick Google suggests it's a tablet, with mobile capability in some models.

No. Tab as in tablet.

Firstly, there is no concept of linking Gmail accounts. You register for separate accounts, and the emails for each account are kept separate, but accessible through one app.

On any Android device, whether its a tablet or smartphone, assuming that you have the latest Gmail app installed, you need to add each Google account separately. There are 2 ways to do this.

Method 1

On your device:
1) Go to Settings
2) Under Accounts, tap Add account to bring up a list of services to add
3) Tap on Google to bring up the Add a Google Account screen
4) Tap on Existing to bring up the Sign in screen
5) Enter your Email & Password

Method 2

Follow these steps

Either method will complete the set up process and your added account will then be available in the Gmail app in the menu on the left hand side, where each account will be denoted by a "person" icon of a specific background colour.
