Sun Holidays - Butlins, Skegness

Hi, I was after a bit of advice or information from anyone who might have already taken their Sun Holiday at Butlins in Skegness.
I've booked a standard apartment for four in June, and I'm thinking of possibility taking my nephew as a treat.
Are wristbands issued for weekend breaks? If I take him along and it's wristbands, that's obviously going to cause issues I don't need. I didn't fancy calling to upgrade to a six person room due to the expense, and I'm on a budget, and there's every chance he might not come yet!
Any info would be a big help, thank you.

We went to Butlins Skegness in July last year and no wristbands are issued but you might have a problem on entering the park as you need to show your booking at the gates to the park which will show 4 people so they may query 5 people being in the car.
Also from a safety point of view I wouldn't do it. Whilst nothing is likely to go wrong I wouldn't risk having someone in the accommodation that the site have no knowledge of in case of a fire for example. I personally wouldn't take this risk but then I am a big worrier.
Have you called to ask how much it would be as it might not cost as much as you think?0 -
I went myself last July and didn't get wristbands issued.
We also had photo copies of the booking form as it was two cars arriving at different times, they didn't do a head count.
I have a four bed apartment, to be upgraded to a six bed would mean a large increase in price, I'm not enquiring and arousing suspicion!
It was just an idea anyway, thanks for your reply :-)0 -

There is 5 of us and I always only book for 4.... never had wristbands issued, and never had problems getting in or out of the site....It wont be a problem, we do it all the time...Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Thanks poolielad, I wasn't sure if they'd introduced wristbands this year or not.0

I spoke to them yesterday to get the passes (and linen) removed before I paid my balance. I was told that I wouldn't not be able to use any facilities without having wristbands. Also, he said you cannot buy them when you get there, but can add them on anytime before arrival date. Really hoping we do not need them as so expensive and we are not staying the whole duration!0

If you're thinking about having someone in your chalet who Butlins aren't aware of that does pose a hazard in the unlikely case of a fire.0 -
i can completely understand why you want to do this but just a couple of points
1) you wont be covered by insurance etc incase of an accident.
2) if you are found out you would probably be removed from the site and made to pay the extra as what you are doing is fraud.
3) as a yearly guest at butlins skegness who has to pay for 2 small children within my booking (aged 4 and 3 this year) i find it annoying that you would expect a free holiday for your nephew ! we are on a low income and save hard all year sometimes going without other things in order to take our children on holiday.
4) technically you could probably get away with it (they do scan the car as you arrive and show your booking confirmation and you need to go to the booking desk to get your keys/info pack) but personally i think its wrong.
just my opinion and im sure lots of people do it but then lots of people shoplift it doesnt make it rightiv done 3 things right in my life and their all perfect
