Friday 17th April - What small DFW things will you do today?

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important:money:

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Morning Ziggy & all the other DFW that follow
I managed to resist the chippie last night. Just had salad and bits from the fridge. We watched Paddington on dvd which was very sweet.
Today is my last day at work this week which is good because I'm feeling a bit knackered.
Hoping for a decent day but not too manic!
    Have a good Friday all.

    Good Morning All

Hi to all of the regulars and a BIG welcome to all the newbies, this is a really FAB thread with so many lovely, caring, considerate and supportive people.

Yesterday was a strange day, all the appointments I'd made had to be jigged around so felt under less pressure. Dog sitting for a few days as DSD has started a new longer shift pattern at work. My little list:

    Walk Dog -
Packed lunch for DH - Done (Fish n Chip Friday at school)
Walk to meet friend (also means more decluttering done too) - Done (have also decided to try and get out more - it's getting too easy to stay in - hope that makes sense)
    Bake -
    Clean Fridge -
Continue clear up in attic/craftroom -
    Continue purge on Emails -
Continue purge on FB & Twitter -
    Surveys -
    Check Banks -
    Check swapits -
    Enter a few comps -
    All meals from cupboards/fridge/freezer -
Check https://www.freepostcodelottery.com - Remember there are now 5 chances to win -
Read - wip - another book from shelf

Have a great day, love to you all

    Morning all :)
Thanks for starting us off Ziggy :)
Good luck with the house offer La E
Hope you feel better than you did yesterday Jojo

    For me today:
Got up late, for me, nearly 8 o'clock
Need more coffee to get me going!

    Check banks
Do a shopping list, maybe for an Ocado delivery, haven't decided yet Delivery booked for tomorrow between 7-8pm
Walk into town and get some change for a potential car boot on Sunday Done
Make some signs 'everything here 50p', 'these items £1' etc (tat left over from bottoms of auction boxes needs to go) Bought some card but haven't written them yet

Sow some cucumber and courgette seeds Not done this yet, need more compost
Check when driving licence expires (a bit random I know, but it occurred to me I ought to check) Oops forgot this, will do in a minute
HM meals from stores, use up day, though I might make parsnip soup :)Done, I did make spicy parsnip soup for lunch, and a concoction with mushrooms and ham that needed using up for supper. I cooked the mushrooms in butter with a little garlic and added a bit of cream out of the bottom of a pot, added the ham, and stirred the lot into cooked pasta and seasoned with salt and black pepper. It was nice with a bit of salad on the side
Water anything that needs it, it is properly dry now, and I expect water shortages / hosepipe bans will be mentioned before long :(All seemed ok for today, will check again tomorrow

Right, that will do to start, more coffee, then GET ON!!!

Hope you all have a good day :)

    Now that is dedication!

    Happy Friday everyone :)

Another late start for me today as I took a nap yesterday and couldn't get to sleep last night so spent a couple of hours entering competitions in the wee small hours of the morning before finally getting to sleep at about 3am.

Breakfast has been a packet of crisps and the last punnet of my YS grapes (I'm hoping one cancels out the other health wise!)

I've just potted up a spare Azalia that was part of a deal but exceeded the number my mum needed for her garden so came home with me. I've also bagged up my mug garden sewn with free Aquilegia seeds in some loose polythene bags liberated from a supermarket trolley yesterday (I figured nobody was going to squeeze them back in the dispenser.) They are out in the sun now, I must remember to bring them in later though I've grown Aquilegias before and they seemed to seed quite freely outside without any help from me but maybe these are more tender as they are a 'posh' variety (lime green flowers.) My free Cosmos are under bubble wrap outside and there seems to be signs of germination already unless they are weed seeds from last year!

I'm not doing too well on my ebay/boot sale clearout though I have attacked my underwear drawer and sorted my socks and made more hair scrunchies from the holey ones. I have made noises about DH going up into the loft this weekend. He wasn't happy :rotfl:

DH is playing a gig in Camden tonight which I have said I will go to. He drives up anyway (and black cabs don't have to pay the congestion charge, yay!) so there's not much effort required on my part but it gets really, really boring having to be there quite early and sitting through sound checks etc. I don't (won't) drink nowadays in case there is any kind of emergency with my son and I need to drive to get him so I always feel like I'm on a different wavelength to everyone else too. I usually bribe him with takeaway pizza to stay in if I'm out so I don't have to worry about him but on a sunny Friday evening I think my chances of getting him to stay home are zilch!

Dinner will most likely be a £3 deal from the chicken shop round the corner to the pub!

    Have a great day everyone!

Edited to add: Last news on potential house is they have had long talks and the final decision lies with the vendor's mum (they are planning on buying into her very large house.) I will be gutted if we don't get this house, I was sure we would yesterday morning but I'm not so sure now :(

Fingers crossed your offer is accepted La Escosa!
    Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

    December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.10
  • Whoot whoot, its Friday
Today I am taking care of my financial life by:

    1. Being here and getting motivation to continue on with debt payment and general financial sensibility.
    2. Looking after my online business.
    3. Challenging myself to have four no spend days during this week.
    4. Probably stream some free movies tonight :D
    5. Put a bit towards my debts today.
    6. Did my shopping and worked out that bulk buying home delivery is HEAPS cheaper than using the petrol to go there, so going to be doing that next week.

That's all I can think of, have a great lovelies.
Debt as of March 2018, £794 rent arrears £4273.7 debt, £900.70 in pay day loans, total £5968.40 . Total debt today £5968.40
