Question about vendor..

We accepted an offer on our house 8 weeks ago. We put an offer on another house within a week and it was accepted. The vendor told us on both visits they would be moving to rented to facilitate a quick sale. We know this is not set in stone but was obviously a selling point for us.
We got our mortgage in place and survey done within a week. Our sols heard nothing from theirs and on doing some digging with the EA they are now looking for a house and have made several offers on different places all of which have been rejected. They now say they can not move until they find somewhere to buy.
At the same time they've not returned to their sols and completed any of the paperwork and we've now found out they are away from Monday for three weeks. They didn't tell anyone. Seems they aren't that interested.
But of advice needed, should we start looking elsewhere? Give deadlines or simply wait which may force us to lose our sale.
Thanks

You have to ask yourself if the vendors are deceitful from day 1, how will the rest of the purchase pan out?
Start looking elsewhere and make sure their EA knows.0 -

We hear quite frequently that vendors renege on this undertaking.
It suddenly becomes a terrific problem when they test the market, find nothing within their budget and see prices edging upwards. Whether they they lied to you at the time of viewing is immaterial; it's clear they have no idea how to behave decently now.
As above, start looking again and tell their EA that you are doing so. Don't set any deadlines to others, but have one for yourselves.0 -

don;t burn any bridges, tell the ea you need to start looking at other properties now.0 -
As above, no point at all in burning bridges. Just tell the EA of the one you're buying that you'll be looking at other properties and will pull out if you find a house that is proceedable. Look - see if something else comes up before your vendor gets going.
In the meantime, the EA for your house should be working to keep your buyer onside - reassuring them that you're committed and trying to get the chain in place, etc. That's one of the things you're paying them for.0
