Interrogation by Halifax over the phone about PPI claim is this normal ?

Having written a letter saying I thought I was miss sold PPI on 2 secured loans with the Halifax , I then received their forms to fill in.
I sent them off nearly 4 weeks ago , filling in as much detail as I could possible think of.

Tonight I got a phone call from them going over all the questions again.......I was on the phone for 55 minutes !!!

Is this what they normally do ???

I didn't have copies of the forms to hand and answered everything as best I could remember.......when I had filled the forms in I had sat for hours working out how much my salary etc was at the time of the loans .....I think I remembered it tonight as well.

All she kept going over was how much redundancy I would have got if I had lost my job
( I had ticked the box on the forms saying I would get redundancy but didn't put how much )

I told her I had no idea what the redundancy package was except I knew it was so much salary times the number of years I had done.........she kept asking me to estimate the amount and I said I couldn't as I didn't know .......I only knew this was 26 years and 30 years service times ??? salary.

Will this go against me in their decision ????

And why did she keep going over all the questions I'd already answered on the forms ?

I felt drained when she had finished ......has this happened to anyone else ?

I'm now not feeling very confident about the outcome .

They can do if there is nothing to indicate any wrongdoing in evidence provided or available.

Shouldnt do as redundancy is largely an irrelevant issue as it doesnt overlap with PPI.

It is also never guaranteed - and even if it was, if the redundancy resulted from the employer going bust the employee would simply be another unsecured creditor.

I had said that I was not told the PPI was optional , that it was not discussed with me at all , I was not asked about pre existing medical conditions .
I had presumed it was life insurance I had to have ( as they had told me I had to have it when I took out my original mortgage)

It was only when I found the original agreements that I realised it was PPI and not life insurance .......think I was too keen to get my hands on the money than to look into details :/

Also the forms were posted to me to have witnessed with the PPI box already added and ticked.

I also had good sickness benefits from my employer.

1 - what evidence do you have to support your allegation that you were not told it was optional?
2 - do you have any pre-existing conditions that would prevent the policy from paying out (this reason is only going to work if you have medical conditions).
I also had good sickness benefits from my employer.

That can work well with loan and credit card PPI. However, the FOS have been rejecting complaints with that reason on MPPI.

The fact they want to speak to you on the phone is a good thing. It means they have not rejected your complaint. However, it also means there is not enough to go on at this stage to uphold it. Hence why they need to speak to you more.

    Thank you for your reply.
I have no evidence , I'm afraid it's my word against theirs :/
I did have a medical condition if ongoing depression counts.

I have googled" the Halifax phoning their customers regarding PPI claims " and I found a number of people had lengthy phone calls from them.... but only one person updated they had been successful

Yes that is the basis for justice in a free country - you make an accusation, you prove it, they do not have to disprove it.

If you were honest and they believe you were miss-sold they will refund

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
