Housing association leaking roof - help please

Hi all,
Really need some advice regarding an ongoing roof leak into our flat. We own 50% of a shared ownership flat, metropolitan housing association owning the other half.
A leak started in 2012 and after several attempts to temporary fix it by metropolitan and their contractors and failing we kicked up a fuss in Jan 2014 and put in a formal complaint as we wanted to move out and sell our share. It took over year of inspections to find the cause. Having finally found the cause (poorly installed guttering when flats were constructed) a plan to fix it has been put together but the repairs will cost in excess of £10,000. Due to the repair amount all the tenants have to be informed and section 20's issued. It will also have to go to tender. This is likely to be another lengthy process.
Metropolitan are really very slow at moving things forward and I'm calling them 2 or 3 times a week and getting nowhere. The building has insurance and we have had a quote for the damage internally to our flat (over £1100).
We want to move out but this damage is stalling everything (holes in the ceiling and walls as well as watermarks and mould). If we were to move out and into a rental property could we ask them to compensate us for rent and mortgage we have to pay whilst we can't sell our flat? And who can I contact to make things happen quicker. We have a newborn baby and this is really a horrid environment to live in.

I don't think so. if they are really not getting on with getting it repaired, I'd go through their internal complaints process and then if still not resolved you'll need to take them to a First Tier Tribunal for failure to keep to the covenant in the lease to maintain the structure of the building (assuming it's in there).0

We have put in a formal complaint, this has been escalated to a stage two complaint and the repairs manager is now involved but she really is of little help.
If I don't chase up weekly then I hear nothing. We have had scaffolding outside our house for 12 weeks and no repairs are likely for at least another 2 months. Would a solicitor speed things up?0
